The redevelopment which will deliver 42 private residences, represents Makris’s first move into luxury residential property however leverages the Group’s experience delivering and managing destination lifestyle precincts across Australia.
Building on the success of the waterfront dining offering currently offered at Marina Mirage, a hand-picked selection of world-class restaurateurs have been carefully curated to further enhance the redevelopments offering. Wellbeing and rejuvenation will be a central theme of the integrated resort, complimented by bespoke, Australian retail boutiques, all of which will be placed under the site’s iconic sails.
To achieve excellence in design on a site with such local significance, Makris ran a design competition with five of Australia’s leading architectural firms. From this process, award-winning architects Fraser & Partners, were appointed to develop a design that capitalised on the site’s unrivalled Broadwater aspects and subtropical environment. Through collaboration with a broad team of expert consultants, the outcome is a true celebration of southeast Queensland’s landscape and marine environments.
The existing Marina Mirage shopping centre, and its recently completed 78-berth superyacht marina, is located within the Spit Master Plan which outlines a vision to revitalise the area into an ecological tourism, recreation, and leisure destination. While prescribing low-rise character and coastal charm, the Master Plan proposes a mix of design elements to elevate the outdoor lifestyle which the Gold Coast is loved and renowned for.
Makris continues to drive transformation on The Spit in line with the State and Council’s combined Master Plan vision. Our desire to grow the Gold Coast economy through responsible development is anticipated to deliver in 500 direct jobs during construction and 460 direct and indirect jobs during the operational phase.
